Jumper cables go from flat to wire
Nicomatic offers increased flexibility in board-to-board connections with Crimpflex jumper cables by allowing a connection from flat cable to discrete wire.
Nicomatic offers increased flexibility in board-to-board connections with Crimpflex jumper cables by allowing a connection from flat cable to discrete wire.
A new Hi-Flex female contact has also been introduced for the 2.54mm connector range (or interconnection system).
Crimpflex jumper cables allow interconnection between printed circuit boards.
They are made of two flat copper conductors laminated between two layers of polyester and adhesive insulation.
Now, Nicomatic has launched a new secured connection from discrete wires to flat cables through new 1SM-xx and 2SL-xx series of housings.
This opens up new design and/or replacement possibilities in existing electronic equipment and especially in onboard equipment in air- or road transportation applications.
In an application such as a truck, where cable weight can be up to 80 or 90kg, Crimpflex could achieve weight savings of 30-40% by partially or completely replacing the discrete cables.
The addition of a new Hi-Flex female contact into Nicomatic's range of 2.54mm connectors for flexible circuits improves resistance to damage through bent or misaligned contacts and delivers a stable insertion force and guaranteed contact resistance over an increased number of mating cycles.
Ideal for connections on test products, the multiple-flex multiple-insertion Hi-Flex female contact maintains electrical contact even with an insertion angle of 15 degrees.
The crimping of the contacts onto the flat cable is obtained by piercing the conductor in six points.
This ensures excellent mechanical retention by two points and electrical contact by four points with the lowest possible contact resistance.
The Crimpflex range covers 15 contact styles and 12 UL94V0-rated housings with options for locking and polarisation.
They are compatible with industry standard latching systems for easy mating and unmating to a walled pin header.
The Hi-Flex female contact is available RoHS-compliant tin/nickel or gold.
