PCB assembly operation wins Kitemark
Norcott EMS has been acknowledged as one of the electronic industry's most trusted PCB assemblers with the award of a prestigious BSI British Standards Institution Kitemark licence.
Norcott EMS has been acknowledged as one of the electronic industry's most trusted PCB assemblers with the award of a prestigious BSI British Standards Institution Kitemark licence.
The company has achieved Kitemark certification for PCB assembly to IPC-A-610 Class 3, the highest classification in this world recognised standard.
The BSI Kitemark Scheme for PCB assembly measures product quality as well as the excellence of systems and has been established to allow electronic products manufacturers to have absolute confidence when subcontracting work to contract electronics manufacturers (CEMs).
The award of the Kitemark to Norcott follows a rigorous BSI audit process that included quality plan assessment, product inspection and ongoing evaluation and confirms the company's commitment to manufacturing quality products.
Commenting on the news, Pete Lomas, Managing Director at Norcott, says: "The real beauty of this standard and one that electronics companies can draw even more confidence from, is that the emphasis is on product quality and the manufacturing process rather than just the quality management system - an important distinction".
"Electronics companies already have a number of prominent issues to deal with including RoHS and WEEE, and being able to rely on your subcontractor's capabilities eases the burden".
"The Kitemark confirms our ability to manufacture world class products to an internationally recognised standard".
Neil Stanton, Scheme Manager of BSI Product Services, says: "As with any Kitemark scheme, the process of becoming an IPC-A-610 Kitemark licensee is rigorous".
"The audit focuses on both the assembly and inspection processes to the extent that anything which potentially has a bearing on the assembled product is considered - from purchasing, ESD precautions and control of the soldering processes to inspection, packing and dispatch".
"The IPC-A-610 standard is the de-facto world benchmark for quality assurance and visual acceptance of electronic assemblies - and achieving a Kitemark licence is an assurance of Norcott's commitment to it".
The award of the Kitemark is the latest acknowledgment of Norcott's commitment to quality and ongoing research and development.
Regularly investing in its infrastructure the company is committed to an ongoing development programme, aimed at keeping abreast of technological developments and further improving the customer experience.
