Nu Horizons Electronics Corp has met stringent guidelines to receive the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) certification from the US Customs and Borders Protection.

Nu Horizons Electronics Corp has met stringent guidelines to receive the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) certification from the US Customs and Borders Protection, a division of the Department of Homeland Security.

The C-TPAT programme is a joint initiative between the US Government and certified businesses to cultivate co-operative relationships based upon the integrity of a company's security practices.

These practices are vital in maintaining an overall efficient and compliant supply chain and strengthened border security.

To receive its C-TPAT certification, Nu Horizons completed a comprehensive application process that involved extensive analysis of the company's supply chain product flow.

The analysis included documenting the organisation's procedural, physical and personnel security, as well as communicating the C-TPAT security guidelines to all of its suppliers, carriers and forwarders.

Arthur Nadata, President and Chief Executive Officer for Nu Horizons, states: "Nu Horizons recognises that there is a fundamental relationship between a safe and secure supply chain and the economic success of business enterprises and the global community.

Through the committed and collaborative efforts of our worldwide staff, transportation and logistic personnel, we are very proud to meet the security requirements necessary to achieve this important designation, which we consider to be the right thing to do to promote positive security practices within the distribution industry".

Some of the major benefits of receiving C-TPAT certification include: fewer cargo border inspections of goods, leading to reduced border times; the assignment of an account representative from US Customs and Border Protection to address questions; and access to US Government antiterrorism seminars, and the sharing of industry best practices.
