The Embedded Development Kit (EDK) 7.1i features the performance-optimised 4.0 version of the MicroBlaze soft processor, recently released from Xilinx.

Available now from Nu Horizons Electronics Corp, the Embedded Development Kit (EDK) 7.1i, features the performance-optimised 4.0 version of the MicroBlaze soft processor, recently released from Xilinx The EDK is priced at $495.00 and includes Platform Studio 7.1i development tools, hardware and software IP support for MicroBlaze and PowerPC405, and the new MicroBlaze 4.0 customised soft processing core

To provide customers with a multitude of flexible purchasing and bundling options, Nu Horizons is also offering four additional hardware/software kits, when the initial EDK7.1i kit is purchased.

The Xilinx MicroBlaze 4.0 32bit RISC "soft" processor core now operates at frequencies up to 200MHz in Virtex-4 FPGAs, delivering a 25% increase in core performance compared with prior versions.

This solution also includes a scaleable processor feature set providing designers with prebuilt configuration options to match target application requirements.

Designers can now choose greater mathematical accuracy and flexibility for their designs to fully customise performance without significant cost penalty, resulting in extended product life cycles and faster time to market.

"Nu Horizons is committed to providing comprehensive design options to meet a wide variety of engineering needs".

"Creating bundled software/hardware solutions are one way to make it easier for engineers to acquire the tools they need - quickly".

Nu Horizons' special bundled kits are available in four specific board options when purchasing the EDK 7.1i kit.

Each respective kit includes: a development board, Xilinx Chipscope pro-evaluation CD, power supply, programming cable, Xilinx ISE Foundation software tools and reservation information to attend the Nu Horizons Embedded Design Workshop, featuring the new MicroBlaze 4.0.
