EMC training runs with conference and
exhibition
Training course on "Electronic fundamentals for good EMC" is available at a reduced price during the EMCUK exhibition and conference.
Alongside the international conference to be held during EMCUK 2007, there will also be a full one day training course on "Electronic fundamentals for good EMC", which aims to provide a thorough basic grounding in EMC practices Run by the newly established EMCUK Academy, this course normally costs GBP 200, but will be offered during EMCUK 2007 at the reduced price of GBP 127, including buffet lunch, tea and coffee breaks, plus the opportunity to visit the 60-stand strong exhibition itself

Engineers and technicians must be trained
Leading UK engineering and technology firms, with a combined multi-million pound spend on training and development, will assemble at the IEE 'Investing in Technical Teams' forum on 4 November 2004.
Delegates will hear from two of the most respected authorities in the field, Keith Armstrong of Cherry Clough Consultants and Tim Williams of Elmac Services.
Mechanical, PCB, interface and circuit design strategies will all be covered.
After attending this course, delegates will be able to review all aspects of their designs - mechanical drawings, PCB layouts and circuit schematics - in confidence, to check adherence to principles of minimum disturbance emissions and maximum interference immunity.

DSP seminars focus on video applications
Abacus Polar is hosting two DSP seminars with Texas Instruments.
According to event organiser Alan Hutley: "EMC issues affect designers in every sector, yet educational; establishments in the UK have so far proved reluctant to develop rigorous EMC qualifications".
"The EMCUK Academy aims to co-ordinate and offer EMC training courses at affordable prices in locations to suit market demands, primarily for electronics design and test engineers who want to learn more and improve their EMC skills".
Topics covered in the one-day course comprise: mechanical design - enclosure layout and shielding; PCB design - ground/power planes, layout, tracking, layer stack-up; interface design - cables, filters, connectors; and circuit design - decoupling, bandwidth limitation, balance and isolation.
On the first day of the EMCUK 2007 conference, speakers from the Ford Motor company, MIRA and other leading players in the automotive sector will come together at to deliver an authoritative, challenging and expert conference session.
With more and more electronics being routinely used in automotive electronic systems - from safety critical applications such as ABS and airbags, through driver information such as engine performance and navigation systems, to driver comfort and entertainment units - all in a very electrically noisy environment, the challenges facing automotive designers is tougher than most.
EMCUK 2007 will be held, as in previous years, at the Newbury Racecourse Event and Conference Centre, Newbury Berkshire, on 16th and 17th October 2007.
Alongside the conference runs an exhibition with 60 stands from companies which span all aspects of EMC - including components, test equipment, test houses and consultancy services.
