New Forest Electronics reckons its SDA-02 handheld serial data analyser is the first instrument of its type to incorporate a time-stamping function.

New Forest Electronics reckons its SDA-02 handheld serial data analyser is the first instrument of its type to incorporate a time-stamping function It works by providing an accurate time-stamp with each data character recorded

Ease of use is aided by a "relative" display mode which automatically calculates and displays the time between successive characters.

With a user selectable resolution of 1ms or 100us, the time-stamping performance is believed to be faster and more accurate than that of many PC-based analysers.

The accuracy of the time stamp is +0.2% or +1ms/100us, whichever is the greater, and the analyser includes a new 'detail' display mode, allowing any recorded data character to be shown in binary and hex.
