The OCT9320/OCT9360 Series of media processing modules are claimed to provide best voice quality for VoP network equipment manufacturers.

Octasic has expanded its offering of voice over packet solutions with the introduction of the OCT9320 Series and OCT9360 Series media gateway modules.

Offering a wide range of features in a PTMC form factor, the OCT9320 and OCT9360 are the ideal building blocks to develop VoIP and VoATM media gateway solutions.

These modules, powered by Octasic's leading-edge OCT6100 echo cancellation and OCT8304 packetisation/aggregation devices, deliver superior voice quality and advanced packet-handling capabilities.

The OCT9320 Series of modules offers a low cost solution with excellent voice quality and a feature set targeted for G.711/ADPCM voice applications such as media gateway hardware designs.

The OCT9360 Series provides additional processing capacity for low-bitrate codecs providing a fully featured voice gateway product.

"These new modules support densities of 1008 channels without compromising channel densities when features are enabled", explains Frederic Bourget, Director Product Marketing.

"These boards will reduce time-to-market and engineering design-time by interworking with other standardised hardware in the media gateway".

The OCT9320 Series was specifically developed for G.711/ADPCM designs, offering high density and low cost for next generation carrier networks where voice quality takes precedence over bandwidth savings.

This series of modules also incorporates Octasic's advanced packet loss concealment (PLC) and spectral comfort noise (SCN) algorithms, further improving voice quality in packet networks.

For media gateway designs requiring low-bit-rate codecs such as G.729/G.723.1 or fax relay, Octasic offers the OCT9360 Series of modules where additional DSP resources are integrated to support the amount of low-bitrate codecs or T.38 fax relay channels required.

Specific product features for both the OCT9320 Series and OCT9360 Series of modules include echo cancellation (128ms tail), noise reduction, tone detection, tone generation, conferencing, announcements, adaptive jitter buffer, as well as many other voice processing and packet handling features.

Example applications for these modules include media gateways, media servers, IP-PBX and voice-over-broadband gateways.

All models of the OCT9320 and OCT9360 feature complete TDM-to-packet media gateway functionality.

The OCT9320 Series modules are available with prices as low as US $2950 in large volume quantities.

This represents the lowest cost media gateway module solution available on the market today.

Depending on feature sets, the OCT9360 Series of modules are priced in volume quantities starting at $4100, including indemnifications.
