Tekelec has selected Octasic as its echo cancellation provider for the SanteraOne platform.
The Octasic OCT6100 Series of echo cancellation devices bring unparalleled voice quality to the Tekelec switching solution through an efficient and feature-rich design.
SanteraOne is a carrier-grade integrated voice and data switching solution delivering key applications such as full-feature IXC tandem, class 4/5, PRI offload, packet/cell switching and voice over broadband (VoB) services on a single platform.
SanteraOne has both circuit (TDM) and packet fabrics and supports all of the regulatory requirements of a legacy system (including LNP, CALEA and E911), enabling a graceful migration from traditional circuit-based networks to next-generation packet-based technology such as ATM, frame relay and IP.
Dr San-qi Li, Chief Technology Officer and cofounder of Santera Systems, now a majority-owned subsidiary of Tekelec, commented: "Octasic's innovative technology and Tekelec's leading-edge voice and data switching platform allow carriers to bridge the gap between traditional and next-generation packet-based networks".
"The Octasic team works seamlessly with the Tekelec development group, successfully meshing resources and technologies to ensure quick and timely integration of their solutions within our platform".
"We are pleased with our ongoing relationship with Octasic".
Jon Arnold, Programme Leader, VoIP Equipment, with Frost and Sullivan, said, "We like the flexibility of Octasic's architecture, and its ability to provide the optimal functionality for each customer requirement".
"Over-provisioned components only add cost, and we can see how Octasic will help Tekelec develop a more competitive offering in a market that is on the verge of a strong growth phase".
Octasic's innovative voice processing engines feature uniquely designed capabilities specialised for key VoP requirements.
In contrast with general-purpose solutions, Octasic silicon is optimised for specific voice processing requirements.
This eliminates bottlenecks to system growth, and substantially increases system performance in terms of cost, power consumption, and density.
Each chip in the OCT6100 Series is a complete, easily integrated solution with extremely low power and space requirements.
Densities are available in 128, 256, 512 or 672 channels, with 64 or 128ms tail echo cancellation available for all capacities.
The base devices offer standard echo cancellation and VQE features, including high quality noise matching, manual gain control, adaptive level control, acoustic echo control and G.168 tone detection.
Other devices in the series are available with features such as: adaptive noise reduction, advanced tone detection, tone generation, full capacity conferencing, announcement playback and ADPCM compression.
