ODU has developed a flat springwire connector that is ideal for mating to flat blade contacts during quality assurance, test and measurement, maintenance procedures and identity software downloads, particularly with vehicle electronic control units (ECUs) The connector, which has multiple contact spring wires to provide high integrity with low connection forces over thousands of mating cycles, is available for use with a variety of flat blades including 1.6 x 0.8, 2.8 x 0.8 and 4.8 x 0.8mm

Multipurpose modular connectors
A new 60-page catalogue covering the ODU-MAC connector system is available from ODU.
The components are available with crimp or quick-change terminations.
Forthcoming automotive industry standards will see vehicle electrical failures logged in the diagnostic ECU and the 100% tests currently carried out under real conditions cannot be done with pogo test pins due to high current loads in this situation.
However the flat springwire connector is automotive compatible and can easily meet the task.
Although the automotive industry is seen as a major area for the connector it will be equally suitable for numerous other uses where temporary connections need to be made to flat blades, particularly in test and QA procedures.
