Bluemagic Soundabout is a complete suite of software and hardware reference designs that inexpensively add near-CD quality audio to consumer devices without sacrificing quality or reliability Soundabout Bluetooth wireless audio is a complete solution that provides high quality for low cost and enables manufacturers to build Bluetooth qualified products

The turnkey nature of Soundabout ensures that manufacturers have a short time to market, and the customised engineering services provided by Open Interface enable them to incorporate the full Bluetooth feature set with speed and ease.

Soundabout is distributed as either a turnkey hardware reference design with software, or as a complete, preconfigured hardware module.

It is designed to specifications from major speaker manufacturers and has a better than 80dB signal-to-noise ratio, with end-to-end latency as low as 16ms.

Protocols and profiles supported by the base Soundabout package include Advanced Audio Distribution (AADP), Audio/Video Remote Control (AVRCP) and Generic Audio/Video Distribution (GAVDP).

Additional profiles can be integrated, depending on intended product usage.

Open Interface provides a full set of Bluetooth profiles and protocols, and offers the expertise to help integrate them into devices.

"We are making it easy for manufacturers to drop Bluetooth audio into devices.

With this complete suite of software, hardware, and hardware reference designs, audio device manufacturers can add near-CD quality wireless audio quickly and inexpensively", said Open Interface Vice President of Product Development, Greg Burns.

"We are certain that Bluemagic Soundabout provides the features that audio device manufacturers desire: low cost, high quality, and easy integration, without the need to become Bluetooth technology experts".

Soundabout Bluetooth wireless audio modules are small, robust, and designed for battery-powered applications.

Compared with existing infra-red and 900MHz analogue radio solutions, Soundabout provides extended range and superior audio quality, and enables two-way communication.

Also, unlike IR, Soundabout does not require line of sight, and is much more immune to interference than 900MHz RF.

Once Soundabout Bluetooth capability has been added to a product, it is easy for developers to add features from the full range of solutions available, including remote control, device monitoring, and telephony and network support.
