Oki shows its green credentials
Oki Electric has published its environmental report for 2002 detailing environment protective activities implemented by Oki Electric and its group companies in the fiscal year ended 31st March 2002.

Production-programmed ROMs boost development time
Oki Electric has unveiled two 128Mbit P2ROM (production-programmed ROM) products: the MR27V12800J and the MR27T12800J.
The last fiscal year, in particular, Oki focused on obtaining ISO14001 certification through establishment of environment management system in all of its group companies.
And Oki has achieved its goal to obtain the certification in all six of its production and R and D facilities at Oki Electric and in all 16 facilities of the Oki group companies in Japan.
Oki group has succeeded in reducing about one billion yen of environmental costs in the last fiscal year in total, compared to the previous year, by eliminating 6.6 million yen of manufacturing-waste processing cost and having a 110 million yen profit from the sales of iron scraps, wasted sulfuric acid, wasted wafers, and so forth.
In this fiscal year, Oki has further accelerated its environment protection activities by setting three key activity points, which are: to enhance recycling of used products manufactured by Oki group; to expand environment-friendly procurement by updating the list of environmental affective chemicals compliant with the format of the industry standard conference; and to establish an environment e-learning system for providing time and location free education for all its employees.
"Oki keeps its commitment to the environment protective activities as a key management polices, by further accelerating recycling, green-procurement, and educations to employees, along with the strategic reorganisation of manufacturing facilities", said Ino.
