Oki Electric and AudioCodes have agreed to form a strategic alliance to develop and market voice-over-IP (VoIP) solutions to the Japanese telecomms carrier market The partnership combines Oki's top position in providing VoIP solutions to the Japanese market with AudioCodes' expertise in providing VoIP codec and module gateway products worldwide

Under the agreement, Oki incorporates AudioCodes' VoIP modules into its VoIP gateway equipment, CenterStage MediaGateway KT5000, which connects carriers' core PSTN networks with the IP network seamlessly.

The MediaGateway KT5000, a component of Oki's carrier-grade CenterStage multimedia communication server allows deployment of a cost-effective, high-performance solution that offers crystal clear voice quality for service providers in Japan, where VoIP services are expected to glow.

AudioCodes will integrate these requirements into its VoIP modules and customise them for Oki's new version of CenterStage MediaGateway KT5000, its most advanced carrier-grade IP gateway, which excels in reliability and supports various interfaces with domestic PSTN features in Japan.
