Oki Electric has opened two new offices in China to enhance customer support and marketing activities for its semiconductor business.

Oki Electric has opened two new offices in China to enhance customer support and marketing activities for its semiconductor business The two semiconductor offices are located in Beijing and Shenzhen, which brings the total to four semiconductor offices in China, following those in Shanghai and Hong Kong

With the two new offices, Oki aims to reach a target of Y50 billion for its semiconductor sales in China by the fiscal year ending March 2006; a three-fold increase from that of sales in the fiscal year ending March 2004.

"Establishing the two offices will enable us to further enhance our marketing activities and to provide products that suit the Chinese market", said Akira Kamo, President of the Silicon Solutions Company at Oki Electric.

"In addition, by enriching the technology support structure in the product development, we can respond quickly and carefully to various needs from the local manufacturers".

The new office in Shenzhen is the Shenzhen Rep office, as part of Oki Electronics (Hong Kong), and the office in Beijing is the Beijing office, as part of Oki Semiconductor Shanghai Co's regional office.

Because it is located in an area where Oki customers' development and manufacturing divisions concentrate, Oki will strengthen its customer support and marketing activities, as it is committed in supplying products that suit the Chinese market.

Oki has been expanding sales in the Chinese market particularly in LSIs for personal handy-phone systems and mobile phones, as well as memory chips for electronic dictionaries and toys.

Oki also provides products that suit the market, and in May 2004, the company released a sound generator LSI for the Chinese market reproducing the sounds of 13 types of Chinese traditional instruments.
