More power from laser modules for WDM systems
Oki Electric has developed a trio of high-power 1480nm pump laser diode modules for WDM (wavelength division multiplexing) optical transmission.
With the ML2251/52/53/54, ML22Q54 and ML2240 Oki offers mask ROM, Flash and ROMless versions.
The ML225x family provides two-channel mixing and mono output while ML2240 provides four channels and stereo output.
The ML22Q54 and Q58 incorporate 4 or 8Mbit Flash and are designed for prototyping, allowing onboard programming and storage of digital data.
As the Flash and mask ROM versions are pin compatible it is easy to switch from Flash to mask for mass production.
Each device has an independent channel volume control, offering -60 to 0dB in 2dB steps.
The channel independent loop playback function provides memory space saving.
Internal 14bit D/A convertor combined with a digital lowpass filter (FIR type interpolation filter) and Oki's high precision ADPCM2 algorithm enhance the sound quality.
Five algorithms (2/4bit OKI ADPCM2, 8bit Oki nonlinear PCM and 8/16bit PCM) combined with its wide range of sampling frequencies up to 48kHz, this allows the user to optimise data size and sound quality.
The availability of serial and parallel MCU interface makes the system implementation easy.
This multifunction speech synthesiser family provides high quality sound and is ideal for high-end applications such as alarm and warning systems, automotive and other systems equipped with sound and voice guidance.
Oki has available ML2250 and ML2240 demonstration and evaluation kits.
