Oki Electric has posted its 2005 Environmental Report on its website, describing the environmental protection activities implemented during the last fiscal year ended March 2005 "We hope this report provides a good understanding of our environmental activities to our stakeholders around the world as the Oki group puts importance on environmental activities as part of its CSR (corporate social responsibility) and gives them high priority in its corporate management strategies", said Masataka Sase, who is Executive Officer of Oki Electric and responsible for all of the Oki group's environmental protection strategies

"Last year we took various measures to establish 'network-type environmentally conscious management' to improve management flexibility and achieve investment efficiently by allocating management resources in an optimum manner".

In the Oki Eco Plan 21 (2004 version), Oki's environment protection activity plan, the company set targets in three areas: global warming prevention, resource recycling, and hazardous substance reduction.

The company concentrates its resources on effective measures and shares information and knowhow to continuously create eco-friendly products and promote environmentally compatible businesses.

For the network-type environmentally conscious management, Oki acquired the companywide consolidated ISO14001 certification, and an environmental management system was built for business processes from planning through manufacturing.

Oki acquired ISO certification of eleven sites and eight regional offices in Japan.

Using the technologies and knowledge Oki cultivated over the years concerning environmental issues, the company has accelerated its efforts to provide environment solutions, such as providing lead-free products and RoHS Directive compliant electronic products.
