Potentiometer and switch come together
A new potentiometer and switch combination provides a single pole switch with optional clockwise or anticlockwise actuation as well as standard or reversed electrical operation.
Standard options cover a myriad of parameters that include: feel-of-rotation, shaft diameter and length, power rating, resistance law (eg log, anti-log, linear or special), connection options and so on.
Occasionally, customers need special characteristics that cannot be fulfilled from the standard options menu.
One current example is a 16mm potentiometer fitted with a bell-action push switch, ie contacts normally open, momentarily closed, that was needed for PCB mounting with the shaft perpendicular to the board.
Additionally, the customer wanted a positive click action and good tactile feedback for the operator.
To satisfy this requirement, Omeg located a proprietary switch and modified its 16mm ECO potentiometer to accommodate it.
The single-pole single-throw switch is rated at 50mA, 24V DC.
Initially, prototypes were supplied and following successful trials the potentiometers are now in volume production.
