Omron reckons its latest high-efficiency LEDs have an optical output power comparable to incandescent and similar forms of lighting.

Omron reckons its latest high-efficiency LEDs have an optical output power comparable to incandescent and similar forms of lighting The Omron DR-LED series allows intelligent and efficient lighting in a variety of applications including exterior and interior display signs and illuminations, consumer interior lighting, road traffic signals and vehicle lighting

DR-LEDs are available in red, yellow or orange colours with dominant wavelengths 630, 608 and 590nm, respectively.

The new LEDs are both twice as efficient and twice as bright as conventional high-brightness bullet type LEDs.

This is achieved by a specially designed surface reflective mirror that exploits internal reflection to maximise light output.

The mirror, combined with an integral resin lens, also enhances beam directivity control making DR-LEDs ideal for high visibility applications with reduced power consumption requirements.

Using different mirror and lens element designs it is possible to accurately control both horizontal and vertical beam distribution, to meet the needs of exacting industry applications.

The high performance of Omron DR-LED technology allows a large equivalent luminous area to be achieved using fewer individual LEDs compared with conventional LEDs.

This will allow signage and lighting designers greater flexibility to create imaginative new solutions and meet strict power requirements.
