Bigger LEDs shine further
Omron has extended its innovative DR-LED family with a new, larger diameter version for improved long distance visibility.
Omron has extended its innovative DR-LED family with a new, larger diameter version for improved long distance visibility, suitable for road and rail signaling heads, fixed and variable message signs (VMS), large screens in public areas, obstruction and safety beacons in workzones, at airports and for tall structures The new Omron 2MDR01-11 has an 11mm diameter, compared with 8.5mm for its existing type, giving optimal high brightness while maintaining low power consumption

High efficiency for compact power supplies
Omron has extended its range of power supplies with the launch of the S8PE - a powerful, high efficiency, new line of 3-phase power supplies designed for industrial applications.
The new design uses an enlarged reflector to narrow the light beam, and has a nominal viewing angle of 9 degrees, compared with 17 degrees for the existing type.
This reduces the number of LEDs required to achieve a specified brightness, as well as improving visibility, without increasing power consumption.
Power dissipation is just 123-150mW, with up to 20Cd luminous intensity.
Omron DR-LEDs feature a patented double reflection mirror design that makes optimal use of the internal reflection principle dispersing light precisely.
The improvement in forward light emitted ensures more than twice the brightness when compared with a conventional 5mm high brightness LED.
Compared with filament and gas-filled lamp types DR-LEDs deliver enhanced reliability and longevity, lower current consumption, is fully dimmable, and has faster turn-on time.
The typical service of DR-LEDs, at 100kh, is independent of the number of times the lamp is operated, allowing the costs of warranty repairs to be reduced.
DR-LEDs are highly resilient to moisture, and UV-A, B.
An infra-red version is planned for release soon.
The new 11mm versions are being offered in six colours, unranked, and as three luminous intensity (dual) ranks.
They are available with standard 2.54mm lead spacing complete with standoffs.
