High efficiency for compact power supplies
Omron has extended its range of power supplies with the launch of the S8PE - a powerful, high efficiency, new line of 3-phase power supplies designed for industrial applications.
Leveraging its core strengths in precision components manufacturing, these new devices highlight Omron's commitment to developing innovative photonics components, specifically designed to achieve higher levels of performance at lower costs, enabling faster, more reliable FTTH (fibre-to-the-home) broadband communications.
Omron is also launching a new MEMS-based gas flow sensor range, and a number of new components for the portable consumer electronic market.
Commenting, Nigel Blakeway, COO of Omron Components Europe, said: "Omron's strategy is to evolve from the world's most successful electronic switching business into a fully-fledged microelectronics business".
"We will launch technologies that deliver performance within physical and economic constraints that completely change the paradigm of the markets into which they are launched".
"Photonics is one very significant example where we are using a new approach to manufacturing to create the components that can truly make mass market adoption of fibre optic communications a reality".
The new precision MEMS-based air and gas sensors to be launched at the event are centred on a device known as the "flow chip".
Beneath its innocuous exterior the component offers real versatility.
Omron will show a variety of component solutions demonstrating practical uses.
With the appropriate surrounding plastic architecture and signal conditioning circuit the flow chip can sense extremely accurately, very small to large mass flows of any noncorrosive gas regardless of temperature change.
It can be used in all applications wherever gas movement is considered the signal transfer medium for measurement and control.
Also on show will be an exciting new range of innovative components designed for use in mobile phones and other similar sized portable products.
These include an impressively compact, high brightness light module for built-in camera flash function and a positive feel 5-way jog switch.
Omron will premiere what is dubbed the world's thinnest motor vibrator complete with driver IC for longer life performing "vibro alerts".
