High efficiency for compact power supplies
Omron has extended its range of power supplies with the launch of the S8PE - a powerful, high efficiency, new line of 3-phase power supplies designed for industrial applications.
Features such as the integrated LEDs and key top can be styled and manufactured to the customers specification in terms of appearance and material.
Omron's dial has a switching action based on miniature integral magnets that provide smooth contactless feedback of side/side and up/down actuation with just one moving part.
This approach is key to achieving the reliability and the size demanded by high volume consumer electronics.
The central dial can be rotated freely through 360 degrees without damage - eliminating a potential area where misuse can lead to failure.
Integrated hall sensors indicate position and provide digital output signals eliminating the need for an A/D convertor in the interface.
To demonstrate the technology, Omron has created a reference design - B5V-R, allowing customers to evaluate fully the design and user experience of the technology.
A key advantage of Omron's B5V solution is that these features are delivered in an exceptionally compact form factor.
The key top of the device is 24mm square.
B5V is fully RoHS compliant.
Omron is developing a more compact solution with an 18mm key top and 2mm profile, due to be released in early 2007.
