Omron has extended its family of energy-efficient DC power relays, extending their switching capacity and adding super-compact low-cost models Existing compact G9EA relays have raised the bar for efficiency and noise reduction in applications from electric and hybrid vehicles to power distribution and industrial equipment

Now they are joined by the G9EC, which can carry and switch loads up to 400V/200A, and the G9EB - the smallest and lightest relay in its class.

The G9EC's switching section and driving section are hermetically sealed and gas injected, providing the capacity to interrupt a maximum of 1000A at 400V DC.

The sealed construction means that no space is required to accommodate arcing; it also saves space and helps to ensure safe applications.

Dimensions are a compact 98 x 44 x 86.7mm.

Mounting direction is unrestricted, thanks to the space reduction and optimised physical design.

A terminal cover is available for industrial applications.

New G9EB relays are the industry's smallest and lightest models in the 400V DC, 25A class.

Just 25 x 60 x 58mm in size and weighing-in at around 135g, they are approximately half the volume and a third the mass of competing devices.

By using resin with a metal case, the G9EB achieves a special gas-filled, fully sealed ceramic construction without the need for special processing and materials.

The result is not only compact and light, but lower in cost.

Patented design of the contact switching component, together with the use of a permanent magnet to stifle the arc, eliminates the need for polarity in the main circuit, which simplifies wiring and installation and reduces the risk of incorrect wiring-up.

As with the G9EA, both new relays are offered in SPST-NO contact form.

The high-capacity G9EC is available in screw-terminal and lead-wire coil terminal versions, and carries UL/CSA approval to UL508 standards.

They benefit from extended temperature operations: the G9EC from -40 to +50C and the G9EB up to +70C.
