On Demand Microelectronics (ODM) will show Svenm - its scalable video engine for mobile multimedia applications - at Embedded Technology 2006 in Yokohama, Japan from 15th to 17th November For the show ODM is joining forces with IPTC, a leading Japanese high tech network founded by global players such as Toshiba and Canon

In the IPTC IP pavilion, on Booth E-23, ODM will present the Svenm to the Japanese market.

Svenm is ODM's down-scaled version of its market-proven Sven for HD video processing and designed a video solution that meets the crucial power and area requirements of portable multimedia devices such as MP3 chipsets, personal media players and cellular phones.

The challenge to secure long battery-life in face of power-intensive video processing is accomplished by using cutting-edge power reduction strategies.

Svenm adds video functionalities to a wide range of diverse portable products by providing a broad variety of different interfaces (MMC, SDIO, Compact Flash, multimedia interface).

This flexibility enables customers to conveniently widen their product portfolio and thereby being at the forefront of a market that constantly faces the challenge of new trends.

Svenm delivers sharp TV and video images to portable devices by performing simultaneous video encoding and decoding as well as dual stream decoding and even audio processing.

ODM's solution also integrates high-performance image processing such as scaling, deinterlacing and colour space conversion.

Svenm is a future-oriented solution supporting all current video (H.264, MPEG4, VC-1 and DivX) and audio standards in software.

The individual functional blocks are programmable and use the C-based programming language and integrated development tools for simple and straightforward programming and configuration of the target application.

In addition, its software-programmable ensures future compatibility with newly emerging standards.

Svenm is targeted for mobile applications that require video formats up to D1 (720 x 576 Pal or 720 x 480 NTSC).
