Framework in the running for 3GSM innovation award

Based on Open-Plug's unique and patented Flexibleware technology, the ELIPS Platform enables the rapid development of mass market phones - from ULC to multimedia phones - which represent more than 90% of the market.

With its technology, Open-Plug has successfully adapted the component-based approach to the embedded software industry, delivering the flexibility of a true modular architecture on mass-market terminals, with neither resource nor power consumption penalty.

Open-Plug's component technology scooped the prize of the most innovative technology development at Inaugural Asian Mobile Innovation Awards at 2006 3GSM World Congress Asia.

The competition was entered by over 70 young, small and start-up companies across Asia which develop innovative technologies, content and applications for the mobile industry.

The short-listed companies presented to the judging panel comprising senior representatives from Ericsson, Bharti-Airtel, KTF, Smart Communications and SpinVox.

"To have been selected from more than 70 companies that entered the Asian Mobile Innovation Awards is an achievement for which Open-Plug can be justifiably proud", said Rob Conway, CEO of the GSM Association.

"Our first awards dedicated to innovation in the Asia region this year reflected the diversity, the vitality and the rapidly changing dynamics of the mobile sector - in that regard it was a very tough competition for young and small companies".

Open-Plug is now in the shortlist for the innovation category of the GSMA's Global Mobile Awards at the 3GSM World Congress 2007.

The winner of the 2007 Global Mobile Innovation Award will be announced during the GSMA's Global Mobile Awards Gala Dinner on the evening of Tuesday 13th February 2007.
