ON Semiconductor has opened two new solutions engineering centres (SECs) - one in Portland, Oregon, and the second in Taipei, Taiwan.

ON Semiconductor has opened two new solutions engineering centres (SECs) - one in Portland, Oregon, and the second in Taipei, Taiwan Establishment of these facilities expands the company's local service capabilities by providing on-site technical expertise and new product development

Both SECs will develop advanced power management solutions for the computer power and the power conversion markets.

The facilities are staffed and equipped with all of the resources necessary for local electronics manufacturers to tap into the vast power management experience ON Semiconductor has available.

"Opening these SECs further demonstrates ON Semiconductor's ongoing commitment to strengthen relationships with our customers and to support their key local strategies", said Keith Jackson, ON Semiconductor President and CEO.

"The SECs are a direct investment in our customers' future and the success of their next-generation product lines".

"By situating technical experts closer to our customers, we are able to more effectively and efficiently translate their problems into solutions and combine our expertise with theirs to solve platform problems together".

"Our customers are developing some of the most innovative computing and power supply products on the market today", said Jackson.

"We see major opportunities for growth and collaboration - especially in the computing and power conversion spaces".

"We established the SECs because we believe customer service and satisfaction are equally as important as new product development to our future success and sustained growth".

The Portland SEC is headed by Bernie Boland, an industry veteran with more than 20 years of experience in field applications, marketing, business development and management.

The SEC in Taiwan is headed by Director Alvin Chang, an industry veteran with more than 14 years of experience in semiconductor design, field applications, marketing, business development and management.

Strategically located SECs - situated near customers' facilities and established to provide technical expertise and innovative solutions - are another way ON Semiconductor is working one-on-one with its customers to help solve their toughest power design challenges.

ON Semiconductor's new Portland and Taipei engineering centres are two of three SECs the company has established.

An SEC in Seoul, Korea, opened last year.
