Diodes shrink into SOD-723 packages
ON Semiconductor has introduced three new Schottky and three new ESD diodes in 1.4 x 0.6 x 0.5mm SOD-723 packages.
Continuing to respond to the portable product industry's need for further miniaturisation of discrete component packaging, ON Semiconductor has introduced three new Schottky and three new ESD diodes in 1.4 x 0.6 x 0.5mm SOD-723 packages "ON Semiconductor has expanded its selection of technologies in its SOD-723 package family to directly address an industry-wide need for ultrasmall discrete devices", said Mamoon Rashid, General Manager for the Small Signal Division at ON Semiconductor

Meritorious performance from N-channel MOSFETs
Continuing the expansion of its portfolio of low-voltage power MOSFETs for switching and power management applications, ON Semiconductor has released a range of new N-channel devices.
"Our portable product customers require smaller diodes and transistors for their power management, switching and protection applications to enable expanded feature integration in their portable products - without increasing the size of their end products or reducing power efficiency".
"Introducing six of our most popular discrete devices in tiny SOD-723 packages is part of ON Semiconductor's ongoing plan to expand its miniaturised discrete product portfolio".
The devices now offered in the SOD-723 package include Schottky diodes that lead the industry in lowest forward voltage and reverse leakage current performance, and ESD diodes that offer the highest level of ESD protection available in the 1.4 x 0.6mm package size with package dimension of 1.4 x 0.6 x 0.5mm, the SOD-723 package helps free up much needed board space in cellphones, PDAs, digital stills cameras, notebook computers, consumer electronics, media players etc Compared with the SOD-323 package, the SOD-723 offers a 73% reduction in footprint and a 50% reduction in profile height.
In comparison with the previous generation SOD-523 package, the SOD-723 delivers a 13% footprint reduction and a 28% reduction in profile height.
The devices are priced between $0.023 and $0.035 per unit in quantities of 10,000 units.
