Power MOSFETs come in small packages

An ON Semiconductor product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Feb 12, 2007

ON Semiconductors new power MOSFETs come in tiny SOT-723 packages for use in portable products.

ON Semiconductor has brought out a new line of power MOSFETs in tiny SOT-723 packages and optimised for space-constrained portable applications.

The NTK313xx low-threshold power MOSFETs make use of ON Semiconductor's Trench technology to achieve comparable electrical and power performance to MOSFETs offered in much larger SC-89 or SC-75 packages.

The 1.2 x 1.2 mm footprint of the SOT-723 package takes up 44% less board space than similar performing MOSFETs offered in the SC-89 or SC-75 packages.

They are suitable for load/power switching applications and small signal interface switching.

The NTK3134N is a 20V, 890mA, N-Channel MOSFET and the NTK3139P is a -20V, -780mA, P-Channel MOSFET.

Both devices have low RDS(on) values for over 200mA operating current and 1.5V low gate voltage to allow direct control from power management ASICs or other controllers.

They also have integrated electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection, which minimises the need for special handling and assembly processes.

With a low vertical clearance of 0.5mm, the new SOT-723 packaged MOSFETs satisfy the requirements of new generation ultra-thin handheld portable devices.

Both devices are currently in production and available.

Budgetary pricing is $0.13 per unit in 10,000 unit quantities.
