RTCA DO-254: "Design assurance guidance for airborne electronic hardware", is a standard for complex electronic hardware development, and the FAA benchmark for safety-critical avionics hardware.
The DO-254 standard addresses all aspects of hardware design assurance throughout the hardware design life cycle, including the planning process, development process, CM process, quality assurance process, certification liaison, and hardware life cycle data.
