The Optoelectronic Manufacturing Corporation (UK) is celebrating 20 years as a leader in the manufacture and supply of a wide range of optoelectronic products.

The Optoelectronic Manufacturing Corporation (UK) is celebrating 20 years as a leader in the manufacture and supply of a wide range of optoelectronic products, particularly in polymer fibre optics and edge lit LED back lighting for liquid crystal displays.

Formerly known as Fibre Data and specialist LED division, LED Technology, OMC employs 40 people at its European headquarters in Redruth, Cornwall.

Certified to IS09001, the company has a complete manufacturing capability, even including the producing of injection mould tools.

Associated manufacturing facilities in mainland China and the Republic of China (ISO9002 certified) produce discrete LED products which often form a component part of the custom items developed in the UK.

The product range is solutions-oriented and diverse, and includes fibre optic transmitters and receivers, specially designed reels for fibre optic cable assemblies, optical connectors and accessories, backlights and bezels, spacers and holders for discrete LEDs.

A thorough understanding and capability to produce practical and economic light guides lies at the heart of many of OMC's products, which has been acknowledged both by a wide customer base, and industry -wide awards.

OMC is one of the few remaining high volume fibre optic cable assembly facilities in Europe.

In addition to the manufacture of traditional glass fibre cable assemblies, the company has developed a specific expertise in the use of polymer optical fibre.

OMC's Fibre-Data brand of transmitter components for plastic fibre are up to an order of magnitude more powerful than major competitors, with the result that the company has dominated the UK market for polymer optical fibre for many years.
