Next generation LEDs offer colourful options
Next generation LEDs are now available in a broader range of nine distinct colours, giving designers a better choice when selecting an LED.
Next generation LEDs from the Optoelectronic Manufacturing Corporation (UK) are now available in a broader range of nine distinct colours, giving designers a better choice when selecting an LED.
Available colours are blue 470nm, sea green 505nm, true green 525nm, yellow/orange 587nm, white, amber 605nm, red/orange 615nm and red 625nm.
A new purple LED at 410nm has recently been released.
Truly universal and suitable for low current or high brightness application, the next generation LED lamps and displays offer a revolution in LED performance with up to 10 times the brightness or down to 10% of the drive current from the same device.
Benefiting from superior uniformity and better reliability than A1GaAs ultrabright devices, OMC's range of next generation LEDs are genuine next generation products incorporating Micron Plus LED semiconductors.
These LED semiconductors start giving useable light output at around 0.5mA drive current as well as the same light output at around 2-5mA as conventional high efficiency types offer at 20mA.
All colours of OMC's next generation LEDs offer high brightness and can be supplied in a wide range of LED packages including pinned body types such as round, triangular and cylindrical.
SMD types such as PLCC2 are also available.
These colours can also be supplied in various different LED display packages such as seven segment, dot matrix etc.
