Single-die LED backlights save power
A new range of white backlights provide bright, even illumination using LED die.
The company now also offers custom A4 sizes.
In addition to backlighting for LCD displays the backlights can be used for illuminated signs or slimline lightboxes for photographic and printing industries, just to name a few applications.
The new models are some of the largest single edge illuminated LED backlights OMC has developed, thanks to a combination of OMC diffuser and reflector technologies that allow much larger areas to be illuminated from a single panel edge.
By increasing the backlight size but keeping to a single edge illumination, OMC has been able to keep down the number of expensive-to-produce white LEDs used on each backlight.
As a result the new large backlights feature a lower current consumption and are cost-effective, both due to the smaller number of white LEDs required.
