Capacitors bridge the high-voltage data
gap
The development of special dielectrics and novel termination techniques has enabled Oxley to produce capacitors capable of withstanding pulses up to 150kV and proof voltages of 40kV AC.
The development of specially engineered dielectrics and novel termination techniques has enabled Oxley to produce capacitors capable of withstanding lightning pulses up to 150kV and proof voltages of 40kV AC The capacitors were developed in response to a requirement for a special isolation capacitor to allow data coupling between high-voltage transmission lines and low voltage communications equipment

Filters set to fly in new commercial aircraft
Oxley's expertise in EMC has been applied in producing a custom-built high-voltage filtered connector that has passed aircraft acceptance testing.
Ceramic was selected as the dielectric as it is free from the resonances inherent in wound systems which can affect the signals in datacommunications equipment.
Additional benefits of ceramic are smaller finished size and lighter weight.
As the strains generated during the pulse conditions can be extremely damaging to ceramic, both the structure of the material and the manner in which pulses are launched into the capacitor were thoroughly investigated, leading to the development of special terminations and the application of advanced electrode chemistry.
Basic operational parameters of the capacitors, which are modular in construction, are 25kV AC rated voltage, 78kV DC dielectric withstand (15min type test), capacitance from 1nF upwards and operating temperature -40 to +65C.
