Panasonic has announced two new series of large can, aluminium electrolytic capacitors that combine a wide range of CV values with case size reductions as high as 40% when compared with previously available large can technologies.

The Panasonic TS-UP and extended temperature TS-HA large can capacitor families feature devices with operating voltages between 16 and 450V DC and capacitance values from 56 to 68000uF.

Case sizes (diameter x length) range from just 20 x 25 to 35 x 50mm, making the new capacitors between 20 and 40% smaller than Panasonic's previous TS-U and TS-NH parts.

Ideally suited to switch mode power supplies, inverters and industrial applications where reliable, high-voltage operation is required, the TS-UP and TS-HA capacitors offer 2000 hour endurance ratings at 85 and 105C, respectively.

Ripple current ratings for devices in the two new series range from 0.51 to 9.05mA while maximum dissipation factors are between 0.15 and 0.55.

All the new capacitors are designed to operate at temperatures down to -40C.
