Panasonic chip integrates many audio, video and security functions on one chip for mobile phones

Panasonic has developed a new system IC for mobile phones by applying its second-generation Integrated Platform for Digital Appliances.

The new LSI MN2CS0035 model can greatly improve the playing time of SD audio and the graphic processing performance on mobile handsets.

The use of LSI technology allows multiple functions such as long-playing music and movie playback, high-performance 3D graphics, and mobile digital TV viewing to be integrated on a single chip for use in mobile phones.

The new chip contributes to the use of software assets in different fields and cuts product development costs by adopting an integrated platform architecture; it realises extended operation of various mobile applications including mobile Digital TV viewing, , and it also enables various stream processing and copyright protection functions.

The new product incorporates Panasonic in-house multimedia processor technology for digital appliances; high-performance AV media processing technology and 2D/3D graphics technology based on the ARM CPU core, multimedia processor, and dedicated graphics engine; and low power consumption technology with multiple power reduction mechanisms.

The chip has inbuilt security technology using a secure-mode CPU and variable cipher systems.
