Panasonic Electronic Devices has developed a digital front-end unit for terrestrial receivers for in-vehicle TV and automotive navigational systems.

The TTM8J and ET-08DHR systems will go into production in April 2007.

In in-vehicle TVs and automotive navigation systems, front-end systems capable of receiving the terrestrial digital broadcast have come into wider use instead of receiving the conventional terrestrial analogue broadcast.

Although 2-diversity reception is mainly used at present, 4-diversity reception is becoming increasingly necessary for high-fidelity reception.

Panasonic Electronic Devices has developed the TTM8J type which combines two tuner units and one diversity demodulation unit into one package, and the ET-08DHR type which has a dual tuner.

The 4-diversity reception system can be easily achieved by combining these units.

In cases where the 2-diversity type is sufficient, the more compact size and the higher-sensitive receiving is realised by using just the TTM8J type.
