Strickland's keynote "How does a service provider remain relevant in an IP world?" will address the changing market dynamics for incumbent service providers and the role of Verizon's FTTH-based FiOS TV service in the company's vision and strategy to address the rapidly evolving consumer environment.
Parks Associates research indicates there will be 18 million US households subscribing to FTTx services by 2011.
Driving this growth are multiple variables, including fierce competition among wireline access providers seeking service breadth as key differentiators, and a greater reliance on robust access speeds to enable rich bundled services offerings, including high-quality Internet and video services.

"These companies have to invest in new technologies and provide a new level of user experience and personalisation in their services".

Strickland is currently Vice President of Video Solutions for Verizon Communications and is responsible for the strategic direction, development and implementation of FiOS TV as well as franchising acquisition and management.
Most recently, Strickland led FiOS TV product management after managing the launch of data and voice products on the FTTH platform.
