The Gemini family of mass interconnect products from Virginia Panel Corp allows rapid connectivity of PXI test instrumentation to devices under test.

The Gemini family of mass interconnect products from Virginia Panel Corp (VPC), now available exclusively in the UK from the Peak Group, allows rapid connectivity of PXI test instrumentation to devices under test (DUTs) These adaptable, modular systems integrate signal, coaxial, power, fibre-optic, pneumatic/vacuum, and thermocouple contacts in unlimited configurations

With a dedicated receiver interface consolidating instrument connections, Gemini mass interconnect systems offer the convenience of a "plug and play" setup in a standardised platform that eliminates repeated wiring and protects instrument connections.

Cable assemblies for specific instrument cards incorporate VPC modules designed for over 20,000 mating cycles to withstand the rigours of a typical test environment.

Mounting options include hinged frames for rack-and-stack configurations as well as chassis mounting flanges for portable applications.

The receiver interface accepts VPC's ITA interconnect test adapter for rapid connection to the DUT, enabling rapid changeover and eliminating the headache associated with rewiring and troubleshooting.

ITAs configured for each DUT allow test engineers to take full advantage of the test system investment using a standard platform.

The interface accepts a variety of fixture options and enclosures, and so customisation to meet specific DUT requirements is easily accomplished with readily available components.

Gemini systems are available in 2-, 6-, 10-, and 18-module configurations to meet any PXI chassis size requirement while allowing for future expansion as test requirements evolve.

The 18-module unit features rugged construction and the ability to simultaneously connect as many as 4380 signal contacts.

The 2-, 6- and 10-module units feature a unique two-piece, EMI-shielded ITA enclosure with large adjustable cable clamps for various sized wire bundles that slides open for easy access to modules and contacts.

Designed for versatility, Gemini systems accept the full range of VPC module and contact types.

From power to signal to RF and more, VPC has an interconnect option to meet virtually any requirement.

VPC's new QuadraPaddle technology enables use of industry-standard 0.1in (2.54mm) pitch COTS connectors for rapid setup and a wide range of interconnect options.

VPC offers several online tools that make designing and integrating mass interconnect solutions as easy as a few keystrokes.

VPC's PXI Configurator creates custom cable assemblies by offering the choice of specific PXI instrument cards and desired wire length, and then generating the VPC module and associated connectors to allow quick connectivity from the instrument to the receiver interface.

Once the wire configuration is complete, cable assemblies can be loaded to a cart for quoting, or to a project to add accessories and products to build an entire mass interconnect solution.

VPC's range of product lines covers the full spectrum of interconnect options for PXI, VXI, and functional test platforms.

The VPC 90 Series mass interconnect solutions are available in 25-, 50- and 75-module configurations to meet the demand for high I/O rack and panel applications, where long cycle life and durable operation are required.

A full line of complementary accessories including mounting frames, enclosures, adapters and tools is readily available.
