Oki has licensed Palmchip's BK-3710 IDE Ultra ATA 133MHz storage connectivity IP product.

Oki has licensed Palmchip's BK-3710 IDE Ultra ATA 133MHz storage connectivity IP product "We are proud to have an industry leader such as Oki Electric as part of our growing family of licensees", said Jim Venable Senior Vice President of Palmchip Corp

"After an extensive evaluation managed by Spinnaker Systems of Shin-Yokohama, Palmchip's representative in Japan, Oki picked our IP because it met their tough standards for high-performance, proven-in-silicon criteria".

"We are looking forward to working with Palmchip in the coming months", said Toshiyuki Tahara, Vice President and General Manager, LSI Design Division of Silicon Solutions Company at Oki Electric.

"Their responsiveness and support during the evaluation process was excellent.

We will be integrating the BK-3710 controller in several future products".

The BK-3710 IDE host interface core provides an efficient and easy-to-use interface to IDE and ATAPI devices.

The core implements programmable I/O, Multiword DMA and Ultra ATA-33, -66, -100 and -133 modes of operation, and supports up to two devices.

The core interface to the SoC provides PIO access and DMA capability to optimise data transfers to and from the IDE devices.

For ease of integration, the BK-3710 includes a register set compatible with the Intel chipset, including a descriptor-based scatter-gather DMA core.

This core is compatible with ATA-4 with Ultra ATA-33, -66, -100 and -133 extensions.
