The latest versions of the Polamco screened adapter and feedthrough heat-shrink kits have been designed with a new range of heat-shrinkable boots made from a high-performance polymer.

The latest versions of the Polamco screened adapter and feedthrough heat-shrink kits have been designed with a new range of heat-shrinkable boots made from a high-performance polymer The new boots have been specifically developed to accommodate a high degree of cable size tolerance while improving levels of mechanical strain relief, electrical DC resistance and chemical and temperature performance

Outstanding shielding performance is maintained due to its internal specifically designed cable braid termination system.

The range consists of four boots which enable a comprehensive range of standard cable entry sizes from 03 to 24 to be covered, accommodating cables up to 35mm diameter.

The compact metal backshell hardware may be specified to suit all available circular connector interfaces and is produced in materials of aluminium, stainless steel and marine aluminium bronze with a wide choice of standard finishes.

Straight or angled terminations may be provided by the metalwork profile and the boot itself is available in a reduced length where space is a premium.

Both styles of boots are designed with a long termination area to the cable to provide wider installation tolerances on cable preparation lengths.

The boots provide enhanced mechanical strain relief due to the tapered nature of the J outlet, and crush and mechanical strength is enhanced by a greater wall thickness on the main body.

The material used for the boots is a high-performance polymer that is a low fire hazard, zero halogen material and fully complies with BS G 195 DF material and DEF Stan 59-35 for accessories for CECC75201-002 connectors.

The shielded assemblies contain an integral copper braid that has been designed to provide optimised screening in the frequency range 100kHz to 500MHz.

This is achieved by designing the braid angle and the number of carrier strands to balance leakage due to hole and weave inductance.

The braid inners have a flat construction to increase flexibility and changes in diameter and enable parts to achieve a versatile 2.5 to 1 shrink ratio.

The braid is terminated to the adapter body via a special magnetically formed metal ring.

This well proven system provides outstanding mechanical strength as well as very low DC resistance.

This system is very stable with time and ageing and ensures a very high degree of long-term reliability.

On shrinking the free end, termination of the internal braid to the cable braid is ensured by the use of a highly conductive adhesive tape (less than 1mohm/cm) while the boot is simultaneously terminated to the cable jacket via a hot melt adhesive providing 105C performance.

The complete kits are designed to reduce the cable assembly procedure to a minimum.

Only the J end has to be shrunk and the need for a high degree of accuracy in preparing the cable is eliminated.

The parts can also be re-entered for repair or modification due to the rollback capability of the boots.
