Paratek has welcomed Dr Theodore (Ted) Rappaport to its Advisory Board of wireless industry experts.

Dr Rappaport has a distinguished career in the wireless industry, holding over 100 US or international patents that have been issued or are pending.

Rappaport is the founding director of the Wireless Networking and Communications Group at the University of Texas in Austin and is a professor there.

Dr Rappaport has authored, co-authored and co-edited numerous books in the wireless field, and his work on site-specific propagation received the IEEE Communications Society Stephen O Rice Prize Paper Award.

As an acknowledged technical expert within the wireless industry and a Fellow of the IEEE, Dr Rappaport is one of the most cited authors in the field with more than 200 technical papers.

Regarding his appointment to the Paratek Advisory Board, Rappaport remarked: "Paratek is successfully tackling the issue of RF tuning".

"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute my experience to the development of technologies and products that will make next-generation wireless handsets perform better than ever".

Rappaport will work with other members of the Paratek Technical Advisory Board who include: Ralph Pini (former Senior VP and CTO of Motorola's Personal Communications Sector); Richard Bravman (current CEO of Intelleflex Corporation and former CEO and Vice Chairman of Symbol Technologies); Russ Wagner (GM of the RF Power Group at Fairchild Semiconductor); and Robert Geiman (General Partner at Polaris Venture Partners).
