Portwell's Robo-8912VG2A system host board supports Intel Core 2 Duo, Pentium D, Pentium 4, or Celeron D in an LGA775 socket that is equipped with dual-core, hyper-threading, EM64T, EIST, XD and VT technologies.
The Robo-8912VG2A PICMG 1.3 system host board adopts the latest Intel Q965 Express chipset that supports the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, which has speeds of up to 1066MHz.
In addition, Portwell's new Robo-8912VG2A system host board features a 4Gbyte DDR2-800 memory capacity.
The Q965 chipset is also embedded with the fourth generation Intel integrated graphics controller, and a Graphics Media Accelerator 3000 that supports DirectX 9.0, Shader Model 2.0, and 256Mbyte of video memory Portwell's Robo-8912VG2A system host board includes PCI Express x1, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, and six SATA 300 connectors for increased bandwidth, plus: eight USB 2.0 ports; dual serial ports and a parallel port; GPIO; and watchdog timer.

"The impact of PICMG 1.3 can be seen easily throughout improvements within Portwell's single-board computer architecture", adds Shen.
"PCI Express and other slot interfaces are now implemented over the backplane".
According to Shen, the benefits of the backplane approach include greater expansion on the slots, minimised downtime during service or repair, and future processor technology upgrade.
Additional dedicated interfaces, such as SATA or USB 2.0, can be implemented via the backplane, so that the slot can be fully utilised for other functional expansion.
