picoChip has opened its first office in the USA to provide local commercial support to the company's expanding customer base in North America To coincide with the opening of the new office John Graham has been appointed VP of North American Sales

Anders Swahn, CEO of picoChip, commented: "The USA is playing a pivotal role in the development of our customer base.

As 3G advances, we are seeing great interest from aggressive developers who appreciate the completeness and time-to-market value of our WCDMA reference designs.

In addition, innovative companies are adopting our technology for WiMax and other wireless technologies because of its compelling price-performance advantage".

John Graham will report directly to picoChip's CEO, Anders Swahn.

Graham brings over 20 years of semiconductor-related, high technology experience to the company.

Until 2003, Graham was a founder, President and CEO of Transitive Corp, a leading provider of processor virtualisation software.

Prior to this Graham held several executive and general management positions at Conexant Systems and Brooktree Corp, in its communications and Imaging businesses, where he was responsible for growing several $100 million-plus product lines.

Graham has extensive experience building strong teams and customer relationships resulting in sustained growth, and has a track record of exceeding revenue goals.

Swahn added: "We predicted a convergence in the datacomms and telecomms industries, and John's deep experience in fast-moving broadband is directly relevant.

As in networking, the new technologies and new entrants will bring radical improvements in cost, performance and adoption: it is great to be playing a key role in facilitating these next-generation players".

The new office is located in San Francisco, California.
