Prof Wang takes key advisory role
One of the world's leading authorities in the field of digital signal processing and wireless communications has joined the picoChip advisory board.
picoChip has significantly strengthened its advisory board with the appointment of Prof Wenbo Wang, Professor and Dean of School of Telecommunication Engineering at the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications (BUPT).
One of the world's leading authorities in the field of digital signal processing and wireless communications, Prof Wang joins existing members of the board Professor Simon Saunders and Professor David May.
Guillaume d'Eyssautier, President and CEO of picoChip, commented: "We are delighted to welcome Professor Wang to this key advisory role within picoChip".
"His reputation in the wireless community is global, and his role in underpinning the technological base of our company will be a key one".
"We believe that his appointment will further strengthen our relationships in China, which we see as one of the key areas in today's global economy".
Prof Wang's expertise and reputation in wireless communications is a significant complement to Prof Saunders' knowledge of indoor propagation (Wi-Fi and femtocell), and Prof May's standing in the field of computer architectures and multicore processing.
He currently leads BUPT's award-winning Wireless Signal Processing and Network Lab (WSPN), has authored, co-authored or edited four books, and published over 200 papers.
In addition to his role at BUPT, Professor Wang is a member of the standing committee of Beijing Institute of Communication, and spent a period in the US working in a commercial R and D role.
His current research interests include 3G, B3G and WiMAX radio transmission technology, wireless network theory, digital signal processing and software radio technology.
picoChip provides solutions to the key challenges of cost, development time and flexibility for next generation of wireless systems.
The company's processor, the PC20x, delivers world-beating price/performance and has achieved design wins with numerous major companies developing wireless infrastructure.
Uniquely, the company also delivers complete, standard compliant reference designs for UMTS (including HSDPA, upgradeable to HSUPA) and WiMAX/WiBro (16d upgradeable to 16e for mobility).
The PC20x is also suited to TD-SCDMA, and has customers developing systems for this standard.
