The IPnexus MTN1200 media and packet processing subsystem aims to cut time to market and development costs for network access equipment manufacturers.

The IPnexus MTN1200 media and packet processing subsystem aims to cut time to market and development costs for network access equipment manufacturers looking to integrate voice, data and fax processing into their products Germany-based telecommunications company Teles is using the MTN1200 and UniPorte media and packet processing software in its popular iSwitch access gateway solution

"We chose Performance Technologies' MTN1200 and UniPorte software because they met the unique requirements of our access gateway solution by providing support for voice, fax and data processing in a low cost, low power mezzanine solution, scalable from 12 to 120 ports", said Klaus Mensen, Director of Marketing and Business Development, Teles.

All Performance Technologies media and packet processing subsystems are configured with UniPorte media and packet processing software.

UniPorte software is designed to facilitate systems design by processing any type of subscriber call on a call-by-call basis.

It future-proofs development investments by enabling upgrades to emerging applications with no change to existing hardware.

UniPorte-based products set new industry benchmarks in density, power consumption, heat dissipation, port cost and overall system cost - all key factors that impact network access subsystem performance.

The MTN1200 is an integral part of Performance Technologies' IPnexus family of packet-based platforms, components and software solutions.

This further establishes the IPnexus family as the industry's most comprehensive product offering designed to facilitate and simplify the development of IP-based network equipment.

The MTN1200 and UniPorte software allow OEMs to easily incorporate functionality at a system level while also offering software-based upgradability, scalability and maintainability.

It is based on the company's MTN1000 Series of mezzanine solutions, which were first introduced in 1999 and have been successfully integrated by many of the world's leading communications equipment manufacturers.

"The MTN1200 and UniPorte software further extend our complete line of media and packet processing solutions, allowing customers to rapidly develop products to process calls between TDM and IP networks", said Tim Resker, Product Manager for Performance Technologies.

"Our subsystem approach dramatically shortens product development cycles while eliminating the costs of developing the port technology.

This new product addition further solidifies Performance Technologies' role as a complete systems and solutions provider".

Additional products in Performance Technologies' media and packet processing line include the following.

The MTN5000 Series of CompactPCI media and packet processing subsystems provide the industry's highest universal port density (96-288 ports) and dual redundant Ethernet with front panel RJ45 access or PICMG 2.16 configuration.

The MTN4000 Series of PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) and PTMC standards-based modules for access and gateway systems provide unmatched density (from 12 to 240 ports) and features to meet multiservice access application demands.

The MTN2000 Series of full-size PCI v2.1-compliant media and packet processing subsystems are available in options that support between 12 and 240 universal ports.

At up to 120 ports in just a 76 x 91mm form factor, the MTN1200 offers unmatched port density, power per port and cost per port in a mezzanine solution.

The MTN1200 is also available as an extended temperature range product for applications such as multifunction digital loop carriers and in-flight communications systems where environmental temperatures extend beyond commercial temperature ratings.

The MTN1200 is available immediately.
