The CPC324 TDM/IP edge communications processor is billed as the most powerful and flexible network access processor on the market The PICMG 2.16-compatible CPC324 offers high speed packet processing and flexible DSP configurability for today's converged communications applications

Providing a powerful architecture supporting voice, data, signalling and monitoring applications, the CPC324 is the first true TDM/IP network bridging product optimised for performance and flexibility.

Used in conjunction with Performance Technologies' advanced managed platform products, the CPC324 enables customers to integrate high availability platforms for TDM interfacing.

"Our CPC324 processor cost-effectively replaces the functionality currently provided by lower density network access products in today's 2.16 and CompactPCI backplanes, allowing system integrators to converge both TDM and IP networks onto a single subsystem", said Steve Wigent, Product Manager for Performance Technologies.

"Coupled with extensive processing power and our NexusWare development and operating environment, the CPC324 minimises design costs, simplifies field sparing and reduces overall cost of ownership for the end user".

Based on a high performance 800MHz PowerPC processor, the CPC324 offers an onboard octal Gigabit Ethernet switch, full Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI), two PTMC expansion sites and 24 fully channelised T1/E1/J1 spans supporting 768 software-programmable channels.

The CPC324 is equipped with the company's NexusWare Linux-based development and operating environment, which allows users to easily integrate applications and protocols within their system.

With two PTMC expansion sites, users have the ability to tailor the CPC324 to meet specific application requirements.

When used with Performance Technologies' DSP-based products, such as the MTN4200 media processing module, the CPC324 can expand to function as a media IP blade, media gateway blade or media server blade.

The CPC324 processor will be generally available in November 2004, with pricing starting at $7995.
