Performance Technologies has expanded its product offering to directly address the rapidly growing voice over IP communications platforms and applications sector of the telecomms industry This expanded product offering is a direct result of the company's recent acquisition of Mapletree Networks and its efforts to integrate the newly acquired voice and media processing technology with the company's existing advanced network access and signalling technologies

The talent and technologies gained through the acquisition of Mapletree Networks now comprises Performance Technologies' Voice Technology Group (VTG).

Over the past 11 months, initial steps have been taken to develop a new family of integrated media gateway platform elements based on VTG's enhanced MTN4200 VoIP mezzanine module and the company's recently introduced CPC324 T1/E1 network access blade.

Customers are currently using this new media processing capability with the company's Advanced Managed Platform products to provide solutions that facilitate the convergence to an all-IP voice and data network.

"By integrating Performance Technologies' voice and media processing and embedded communications products, equipment developers can now deliver robust media gateway, media server and transcoding functions required for IP-based enhanced services platforms", said Ali Bigdeliazari, General Manager of Performance Technologies' Voice Technology Group.

"Additionally, this combination of product technologies provides a highly capable, extremely integrated solution".

Other customers currently using the company's new integrated voice and media processing solutions include a VoIP teleconferencing platform vendor, a VoIP simulation and network test vendor and an equipment vendor providing satellite-based wireless service on ferries and cruise ships.

"Acquiring Mapletree Networks has been strategically important for Performance Technologies, in that media and voice processing technology is central to many VoIP enhanced service offerings", said Don Turrell, President/CEO of Performance Technologies.

"Combining the voice and media processing products from VTG not only allows us to provide media gateway blade solutions, but also allows us to generate additional sales opportunities for our integrated platform and component products, all of which are important elements of the rapidly growing market for VoIP and enhanced services solutions".

Initial units of the integrated media gateway products are available now.

Follow-on models and enhanced functionality will be made available throughout 2005.
