Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) is using the Performance Technologies communications products and software in simulation and testing applications designed for the US Government Raytheon is an industry leader in defense and government electronics, business aviation and special mission aircraft

The company is using Performance Technologies' PCI334A WAN communications adapter and X.25 protocol software in its Joint Distributed Engineering Plant (JDEP) and Critical Area Air Defense (CAAD) programmes.

These systems are designed to evaluate performance in a controlled environment before deployment and to examine design and development options before making costly implementation decisions.

"Since 2002, the Government has designed and applied simulation-based infrastructure to assess homeland air defence architectures against cruise missiles and terrorist threats similar to the 9/11 attacks".

"Raytheon IDS serves as the prime contractor and technical lead for this initiative", said Dr Tom Sadeghi, Technical Director at Raytheon.

"The availability of these systems is crucial".

"We choose our vendors very selectively to ensure minimal downtime".

"Performance Technologies has always been a leading vendor of ours, and we look forward to working with the company on future projects".

Performance Technologies' PCI334A adapter is designed as a fully programmable communications subsystem capable of sustaining high datarates for a variety of protocols used in synchronous data communications.

It is ideally suited for use within SS7 nodes or as an interface to T1 routers, DSU/CSUs, frame relay access devices, high speed modems or other high speed communication devices.

The X.25 protocol software provides all the critical pieces necessary for timely application development.

"Performance Technologies enjoys a long history with Raytheon, and being selected for a Raytheon project is always a testament to the quality of our products", said Jean Pierre Filion, Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Performance Technologies.

"We are happy for the opportunity to be a part of this testing and simulation programme, as it is a critical capability for homeland defence applications".
