General Dynamics is using Performance Technologies hardware and software communications solutions in its rugged computers and equipment for the US Department of Defense General Dynamics C4 Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, provides commercial and rugged computers, network hardware equipment, power subsystems, peripheral devices and commercial software to US Department of Defense customers worldwide

The company also supplies military tactical computer users with next-generation commercial and ruggedised workstations, plus associated hardware and software.

General Dynamics is using Performance Technologies' X.25 protocol software and integrated PCI334A WAN communications adapter for its Common Hardware/Software III (CHS-3) contract.

"We offer purchasing efficiencies and economies of scale for high performance server components to meet our customers' communications requirements", said Theresa Gassner, Business Development Manager at General Dynamics C4 Systems.

"General Dynamics delivers ruggedised, commercial-off-the-shelf IT building blocks that are certified to meet the military environmental specifications of the Department of Defense and many other Federal Government agencies".

Performance Technologies' X.25 protocol software and integrated PCI334A WAN communications adapter provides four high performance synchronous/serial channels for WAN connectivity.

This hardware and software solution is ideally suited for use within rugged military applications, where accuracy and reliability of data is critical.

General Dynamics was awarded the Common Hardware/Software III (CHS-3) contract in June 2003, a competitively awarded follow-on programme to CHS-2, which has a maximum potential value of $2 billion.
