Alliance offers cost-effective VoIP migration

A Performance Technologies product story
Edited by the Electronicstalk editorial team Apr 6, 2005

Performance Technologies is working with Phonetics and Missouri Network Alliance to offer small and mid-size carriers cost-effective, revenue-generating solutions for VoIP migration.

Performance Technologies is working with Phonetics, the developer of Switchmaxx Unified Self-Care solutions for rural telcos, and Missouri Network Alliance (MNA), an alliance of rural telcos throughout Missouri, to offer small and mid-size carriers cost-effective, revenue-generating solutions for VoIP migration.

The partnership, dubbed the "PerforMaxx Alliance Partner Programme", was formed to promote Phonetics' Switchmaxx web-based solutions and Performance Technologies' SEGway SS7/IP STP products.

To further the success of this effort, MNA is providing engineering, installation and testing services for partners and telcos implementing the solution.

MNA has been a customer of Performance Technologies' SEGway Mini-STP since 2003.

The PerforMaxx Alliance enables telcos to streamline costs while offering advanced "VoIP-like" features such as web voicemail.

The PerforMaxx solution uses SS7 signalling on the TDM network so telcos can implement these services and compete more effectively while leveraging their existing infrastructure.

Partners participating in the programme can offer customers reduced SS7 infrastructure costs and a suite of advanced, revenue-generating applications, such as advanced parental controls, advanced one number/find me and do not disturb with override, all installed by MNA.

Switchmaxx supports TDM, SS7 and VoIP signalling on the same platform, so telcos can introduce VoIP-like features now and seamlessly migrate customers to VoIP at their request.

Based on Phonetics' patent-pending Unified Self Care software, Switchmaxx provides a web-based communications portal that allows end-users to shop, buy and manage all of their telco services with the ease of point-and-click technology.

It is the only full-featured product that allows users to control all of their own features for PSTN, intelligent network and IP-based telephony networks alike.

Performance Technologies' SEGway Mini-STP and Compact-STP products offer ideally scaled and priced STP alternatives for smaller carriers looking to deploy cost-effective, VoIP-like services on their own circuit-switched signalling network.

The STPs allow operators to manage and take control of their SS7 network in order to reduce infrastructure costs and implement a variety of value-add service offerings, such as the Switchmaxx solution.

"Switchmaxx allows carriers to build customer loyalty and generate new revenue while reducing operating expenses - an ideal solution for any small carrier trying to remain competitive", said Deb Brunner-Walker, Product Manager for Performance Technologies.

"By combining forces, we are enabling telcos to leverage their existing infrastructure to deliver advanced features to customers".

"Partnering with MNA for installation provides the carrier additional SS7 networking and engineering expertise".

"MNA's expertise in configuring and engineering will reduce installation and service activation time and offer carriers a turnkey experience as they take control of their network".

"Ultimately, end-users care most about the features and quality of the services they receive, not the transport technology deployed in the network", said David Raehpour, CEO of Phonetics.

"Our solution enables telcos to deliver VoIP-like features today and migrate their network infrastructure when they are ready".

"Performance Technologies' SEGway Mini-STP consolidates and routes SS7 traffic locally, which further reduces infrastructure costs".

Performance Technologies and Phonetics will exhibit at the VoIPossibilities show, from 13th to 15th April 2005 in Dallas, Texas on Booths 120 and 121.
