Mezzanine module boosts network performance
The PMC101 PTMC module is designed specifically for demanding LAN/WAN, telecommunications, network management and data/process control applications.
Available now from Performance Technologies, the PMC101 Advanced PCI Telecom Mezzanine Card (PTMC) module is designed specifically for demanding LAN/WAN networking, telecommunications, network management and data/process control applications.
The PMC101 provides systems integrators the ability to extend and tailor the performance of their CompactPCI and AdvancedTCA packet processing and I/O systems to meet increasing needs for network-centric processing and management.
Built around an 800MHz 440GX PowerPC processor, the PMC101 offers a cost-effective approach to performing packet processing and general computing tasks.
"Performance Technologies played a key role in the development of industry-wide standards for packet-switched backplanes, such as PICMG 2.16 and AdvancedTCA".
"This has subsequently sparked an increase in network-centric processing and management for embedded systems", said Hank Heneghan, Director of Product Management for Performance Technologies.
"As with our entire IPnexus product line, the PMC101 addresses the need for more resiliency, higher throughput and quicker time to market, and has prompted an evolutionary change in the way embedded systems are designed".
Using the company's NexusWare Core Linux-based operating and development environment, the PMC101 can act either as an independent processing element or as a loosely coupled coprocessor.
Example uses include accelerated packet or application processing for IP-based networks, upper level SS7 stack and application processing, or easy-to-adapt network protocol processors.
The PMC101 is available immediately.
