Refined process cuts production time and costs

PolarFab has improved the design cycle of its BP30 1.25um, 30V junction-isolated modular bipolar process for 6in wafers.

The refined process, which includes new, scalable NPN (XNPN) and IVPNP (XIVPNP) models, allows designers to reach production faster by enabling them to simulate their designs easier within the correct parameters.

The availability of scalable models, combined with tight process control, is a key enabler for first pass design success, since designers avoid "respins", or slight modifications to an existing design, and can significantly decrease time to production and associated costs.

Additionally, a new NPNgr device has been added to the BP30 process to achieve the high breakdown voltage necessary for power management applications up to 30V, such as amplifiers, line drivers and other linear applications.

BP30 is a 1.25um, 30V junction-isolated bipolar process designed for power management applications at or below 30V.

The scalable NPN model (XNPN) works for emitter widths from 1.5 to 30um, the scalable IVPNP model (XIVPNP) works for emitter widths from 4 to 30um, and the scalable Schottky diode model (XDS) works for anode widths of 6 to 100um.

The new PolarFab process features an NPN, lateral and substrate vertical PNPs, two implanted resistors, a Schottky diode and buried zener diode, as well as high-density capacitors and an optional IVPNP module.

Customers can choose between a one- or two-layer metal process.

The BP30 process provides a complete design environment including a Cadence Process Design Kit (PDK), fully characterised device models and a comprehensive manual.

Pricing and delivery depend on customer requirements.
